Mandatory training for schools
All staff must complete a range of mandatory training to comply with departmental and legislative requirements. Mandatory training is required when staff enter the department as part of the induction process and on an ongoing basis throughout employment. This applies to all permanent, temporary and casual staff, both school-based and non-school-based.

- Data breach preparedness
- Code of conduct
- Child protection awareness
- Child protection training
- Corruption prevention training
- Anaphylaxis eLearning
- e-Emergency care.

Mandatory training for specific roles
Some mandatory training is required for specific roles, and includes:
- chemical safety - mandatory training is dependent on the role and contact with chemicals
- medication administration - mandatory training for staff who are required to administer medication to students
- data owners - mandatory training for any school or non-school-based roles who own data
- disability standards for education leaders - mandatory for staff who are substantive, active or relieving as Director Educational Leadership, principal, deputy principal, assistant principal or head teacher.
Note: this does not include training or development that is deemed to be professional learning, such as the Leadership and management credential.
