Physical world Design and production investigation
This investigation complements and blends with any existing unit of work in the physical world strand where teachers would like to embed a stronger design and production skill focus in their teaching of science and technology.
The inquiry question for this Stage 2 investigation is 'How can we use forces and energy in a product or system?'.
Students work in pairs to explore how light energy from the sun is converted to heat energy to cook food using a solar oven.
The estimated task duration for this investigation is 4-5 hours of learning. This investigation includes a comprehensive resource list, online video links, formative assessment opportunities and links to the Quality Teaching Model assessment elements.
